Work Record- Shoot 1

In todays lesson I did my first shoot for my personal project, Documenting in colour. This shoot was a location shoot in London and my main focus was selective colour. Therefore I photographed specific objects such as, red busses in order to allow me to make the background black and white & have the red bus in colour. After editing a variety of images from this shoot I have realised that the colour red is used frequently throughout.
If I was to do this shoot again I would include more photographs showing selective colour through the use of people as I focused a lot of objects/subjects and I did have one photograph of a man in a bright red jacket and found it appealing to look at.

This image is a selective colour piece for my personal project 'Documenting in Colour' that I took in London. During the editing process I made the image black and white but selected the bus to keep its bright red colour. However due to the weather being very grey on the day of this shoot the colours were not as bright as I would have liked, therefore when editing my photographs I used the vibrant adjustment tool to make the colour brighter.
If I was to take this photograph again I would Include more background to the left hand side as I like the angle the photograph is taken at as the bus looks as if its moving through the picture, however I feel that I need to include more background to show a clear contrast between the black and white background and the vibrant red.

This Photograph is also for my personal project, that I took in London. I used the technique selective colour so when photographing I included an object that was a vibrant colour, for example: in this image my main focus of the photograph is the vibrant red underground sign. I prefer the composition of this image to the above image as it includes more of the black and white background and I feel that it shows the selective colour effect more due to it being more noticeable.
If I was to take this photograph again I would experiment with the different angle I could take the photograph from, for example: high, low ect.

Inspiration:

My inspiration for this shoot came from previous personal projects that I have done throughout photography as selective colour was one of the print techniques that we had to do. Also when goggling 'Documenting in Colour photography' I found that selective colour was used quite frequently and then looked more closely into the use of selective colour and came across photographs taken in London using selective colour.

As a result of this shoot I have realised that I like the use of vibrant colours through my photographs as I have used a vibrant red within majority of my photographs. I like the use of the technique selective colour as I feel it highlights the vibrant colours and would like to look into using the studio to photograph bright objects/products against a black background. After looking at my photographs from this shoot I have noticed one photo that really stood out to me which was the photograph of the man in the red jacket I feel it has a more natural feel to it therefore for my next shoot I am going to continue with the use of vibrant colours but with people so I am going to do a studio shoot of exaggerated make-up.
